Fruit Logistica 2027 runs 3-5 February at Messe Berlin, organised by Messe Berlin GmbH. It is the global meeting point for the fresh produce trade, and it is the one fair where the stand is genuinely the second-most-important thing you ship.

The cold chain decides the stand

Everything else at Fruit Logistica is negotiable; the temperature of your product is not. Fresh produce arriving in Berlin in February has usually travelled several days, and the stand has to receive it, hold it at the right temperature for three show days, and display it without cooking it under lights.

That reverses the normal design sequence. Instead of designing a stand and then finding space for a chiller, you start from the chiller: how many cubic metres of cold storage, how much refrigerated display, where the compressor sits so its heat and noise are not in your meeting area, and whether you need a water connection for misting. Only then does the layout get drawn. Exhibitors who do it the other way round end up with a beautiful stand and produce that looks tired by Wednesday afternoon.

Lighting that does not accelerate ripening

LED is not automatically safe here. Display lighting close to produce adds heat, and heat brings forward the ripening clock on exactly the samples buyers will pick up on the last day. Keep fixtures far enough back, favour indirect light on the product itself, and accept that the hero shot belongs on the graphic wall rather than on the fruit.

Why Turkish exporters are here

Turkey is among the world's larger fresh produce exporters — citrus, cherries, tomatoes, figs, apricots, grapes — and the European buyers who set next season's programmes are in these halls for three days. The commercial reality is that Fruit Logistica is a contract fair rather than a discovery fair: most business is with buyers you already know, in meetings you booked before you arrived. The stand's job is to make those meetings possible and to make the product look like it was picked yesterday.

Our honest position on this fair

If your programme is entirely pre-booked meetings and you are not displaying much product, you do not need a custom build — a good modular stand with a proper meeting area and a small chiller will do the job for a fraction of the cost. Ask us for that instead. Custom construction earns its keep when you are launching a variety, when the stand carries a brand story beyond the produce, or when you need more than one private meeting space.
