Country Pavilion
Design & Build
From COP climate conferences to World Expos and international trade shows, Evreka Stand builds country pavilions that represent nations on the world stage.
What Is a Country Pavilion?
A country pavilion is a purpose-built exhibition environment that represents a nation at an international event — a climate conference, a world expo, a defence show, or a major trade fair. Unlike a standard company stand, a country pavilion carries the weight of national identity: it is visited by heads of state, foreign ministers, international media, and global business leaders. The design and execution quality reflects directly on the country it represents.
Country pavilions are typically commissioned by government ministries (foreign affairs, trade, environment, defence), national trade promotion organisations, or intergovernmental agencies. They range in size from 50 sqm single-room spaces to 800+ sqm multi-room complexes with press briefing halls, cultural galleries, and VIP reception suites.
Building a country pavilion requires a different level of capability from a standard exhibition stand. The contractor must manage government approval processes, navigate event-specific compliance requirements (UNFCCC for COP, BIE for World Expo), coordinate multiple stakeholders within a single footprint, and deliver a finished product that meets the expectations of national representation — all within tight event-driven deadlines.
Types of Country Pavilions
Country pavilions differ significantly in purpose, audience, and design brief depending on the event context. Evreka Stand builds all three primary types:
Trade & Economic Pavilion
Designed to attract foreign investment, promote national exports, and host business-to-business meetings. Typically features company booths, product displays, a central networking area, and a formal meeting room. Organised by ministry of trade or investment promotion agencies.
Climate & Environmental Pavilion
Represents a country's climate commitments, green economy progress, and environmental achievements. Must meet strict UNFCCC sustainability standards. Hosts official side events, government press briefings, and civil society dialogue. Evreka Stand built 5 of these at COP29 Baku.
Defence & Security Pavilion
National presence at defence exhibitions, typically organised by the defence ministry. Brings together domestic defence companies under a national umbrella, with secure meeting rooms, classified product display areas, and government-to-government reception spaces.
Our COP29 Baku Pavilion Portfolio
COP29 — held at the Baku Olympic Stadium in November 2024 — was one of the most significant climate events in recent years, drawing over 60,000 registered participants from 190 countries. Evreka Stand was one of the principal pavilion contractors operating inside the venue, completing over 1,200 sqm of pavilion installations across the Blue Zone and Green Zone.
Youth House Pavilion
A flagship youth engagement space in the Blue Zone, designed to host official UNFCCC Youth Day events, interactive climate workshops, and panel discussions. Open-plan design with flexible seating configurations and a prominent installation wall.
Aperson Pavilion
A corporate sustainability pavilion with branded reception, meeting alcoves, and a product showcase area. Designed to communicate a sustainability-first brand identity within the COP Green Zone context.
Sea Breeze Pavilion
Energy sector corporate exhibit in the Green Zone. Clean architectural language with LED accent lighting, a branded video wall, and a hospitality counter for stakeholder meetings.
Silk Way Airlines Pavilion
Aviation and logistics brand exhibit at COP29. Combined corporate identity display with a meeting room and interactive route-map installation highlighting the airline's connectivity.
Total Energies Pavilion
International energy major corporate presence at COP29. Multi-room structure with a press briefing area, formal meeting room, and public-facing display communicating the company's energy transition commitments.
Our Country Pavilion Process
Country pavilion projects involve more approval stages than standard exhibition stands. Evreka Stand manages every phase as a single point of accountability:
Government Brief & Requirements
Initial brief from ministry, trade agency, or delegation team. We capture functional requirements, branding guidelines, co-exhibitor list, security requirements, and event-specific compliance constraints.
Concept Design & 3D Visualisation
Our design team develops initial concepts with floor plan, elevation views, and 3D renders. We present typically 2–3 concepts for government team review and selection.
Organiser Approval Submission
For COP, World Expo, and other regulated events, final design drawings and material schedules are submitted to the event organiser for approval. We manage this process and respond to any revision requests.
Production
Following approval, we issue production drawings and begin fabrication at our Istanbul workshop. We maintain a live project tracker shared with the client throughout the production phase.
Logistics & Customs
We manage freight booking, export documentation, and import customs clearance at the destination country — including ATA Carnet where applicable.
On-Site Installation
Our installation team arrives during the authorised build-up period. We manage all venue liaison, contractor accreditation, and coordinate with co-exhibitors to complete the full pavilion on schedule.
Event Support & Breakdown
A dedicated on-site project manager is available throughout the event for any maintenance, layout adjustments, or emergency support. After the event, our team handles complete dismantling within the organiser's curfew schedule.
Why Choose a Specialist Pavilion Builder?
Country pavilions are not large versions of a company stand. They involve government approval chains, multi-stakeholder coordination, compliance with event-specific regulations, and the reputational stakes of national representation. A contractor who has not operated in this environment before will encounter obstacles that can jeopardise the entire project.
Evreka Stand has navigated the UNFCCC accreditation process, submitted design packages to the COP29 secretariat, managed five simultaneous pavilion builds within the same venue, coordinated with government clients across different time zones and procurement processes, and delivered every project on schedule — in the most demanding event environment in the world.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a country pavilion at an international exhibition?
A country pavilion is a dedicated exhibition space that represents a nation at an international trade show, climate conference, or world expo. It is typically organised by a government ministry, national trade promotion agency, or embassy, and may house a single national exhibit or a collection of companies and organisations under a unified national identity. Country pavilions range from compact 50 sqm delegate spaces to large-scale 500+ sqm installations with meeting rooms, cultural displays, and hospitality areas.
What country pavilions has Evreka Stand built?
At COP29 Baku (November 2024), Evreka Stand built five pavilions in the Blue and Green Zones of the Baku Olympic Stadium venue — the Youth House pavilion, Aperson, Sea Breeze, Silk Way Airlines, and Total Energies — totalling over 1,200 sqm of completed installation. We have also built country pavilion components at IDEF Istanbul and ADEX Baku for national defence delegations. Our background in managing multi-stakeholder pavilion environments makes us the natural choice for government and intergovernmental organisations planning a country presence at major international events.
Does Evreka Stand know the UNFCCC requirements for COP pavilions?
Yes. We built five pavilions at COP29 and are an officially accredited contractor for COP31 Antalya 2026. UNFCCC requirements include design approval by the secretariat, strict sustainability criteria (no single-use plastics, LED-only lighting, low-VOC materials, recyclable structures), contractor accreditation, and adherence to venue build-up and breakdown curfew schedules. We have navigated all of these requirements in a live COP environment and understand how to manage them efficiently.
How far in advance should we start planning a country pavilion?
For COP and World Expo country pavilions, we recommend initiating the process 5–6 months before the event. This allows time for government brief approvals, UNFCCC or BIE design submission (typically 3–6 weeks for approval), production (6–10 weeks for a full country pavilion), shipping, and customs clearance. Shorter timelines are possible but carry risk and cost premiums — contact us early to understand what is achievable for your specific event.
Can Evreka Stand manage a pavilion with multiple co-exhibitors?
Yes — coordinating multiple organisations within a single pavilion footprint is one of our specialisms. We act as the general contractor and single point of contact for the venue, while managing individual space allocations, branding zones, and build schedules for each co-exhibitor. This typically involves individual company booths, shared networking and hospitality areas, and a unified national identity layer over the whole pavilion. We have managed up to 15 co-exhibitors within a single country pavilion project.
