glasstec 2026 runs 20-23 October at Messe Dusseldorf, organised by Messe Dusseldorf GmbH. It is the world's leading trade fair for the glass industry, and it is the one German fair where the stand brief starts with a number most exhibitors never think about: kilograms per square metre.

Floor loading is the design constraint, not the aesthetics

Glass is heavy and glass exhibits are dense. A single stack of float glass samples, a laminating line demonstrator, or a full-height insulating glass unit puts point loads on the hall floor that a normal graphics-and-furniture stand never approaches. Messe Dusseldorf publishes a load limit per hall, and it is not the same in every hall — the older halls and the areas above service ducts carry less.

What this means in practice: the load calculation has to happen before the design is approved, not after. We have seen exhibitors sign off a beautiful layout and then discover the heaviest exhibit has to move three metres, which moves the meeting room, which moves the storage, which moves everything. Bring the exhibit weights to the first design meeting. If you do not have them yet, bring the heaviest thing you might possibly ship.

Lighting glass is a different problem from lighting products

Most stand lighting is designed to make an object look good from the front. Glass has to be lit so a buyer can judge clarity, colour cast, coating behaviour and edge quality — and those are read at an angle, in transmission as well as reflection. A single overhead track will flatten exactly the properties you came to show.

The workable approach is backlighting or edge-lighting for transmission samples, a separate neutral-temperature source for colour judgement, and a dark surface behind coated samples so the coating reads instead of the wall. This is not expensive; it is just a different plan, and it has to be in the drawing before the electrics are ordered.

Who from Turkey is here

Turkey is a significant flat-glass and glassware producer, and the machinery and processing side exports across Europe. If you make glass, glass machinery, coatings, sealants, spacers or processing equipment, glasstec is where the European buying happens. The fair runs on a two-year cycle, so a missed edition costs you two years.

Our honest position on this fair

If your product is a single machine and you plan to run it live, talk to the venue's technical services before you talk to us — the power, compressed air and extraction order is bigger than the stand order, and it has its own deadline. And if you are exhibiting once with a small sample set, a well-specified modular stand with good lighting will serve you better than a custom build. We would rather sell you the right thing twice than the wrong thing once.
