spoga+gafa 2027 runs 15-17 June at Koelnmesse, organised by Koelnmesse GmbH. It is the world's largest garden lifestyle fair, and its stand problem is the opposite of ACHEMA's: nothing is heavy, but everything is enormous.

Volume, not weight

A dining set, three loungers, a parasol and a barbecue island occupy more floor than most exhibitors budget for, and outdoor furniture does not read well when it is crowded. The whole category is sold on the fantasy of space — a terrace, a garden, a poolside. Pack six settings into a stand sized for three and every one of them looks cheaper than it is.

The discipline is to show fewer settings with real space around them, and to put the rest of the range in a catalogue, a sample wall of frames and fabrics, and a tablet. Buyers at spoga+gafa are ordering from a range they can see the quality of; they do not need to see all of it assembled.

Textiles need storage and a plan for weather

Cushions, covers and fabrics get handled all day, and they get grubby. You need spare sets, somewhere to keep them, and someone whose job on the stand is resetting the settings between meetings. A stand that looks immaculate on Tuesday morning and tired by Wednesday lunchtime is a storage failure, not a design failure.

Turkey exports garden furniture, outdoor textiles, barbecues, parasols and planters into European retail and garden centre chains. spoga+gafa runs annually in June and is where the following season's buying is set — the timing means you are selling the summer after next, so bring the range you will actually be able to deliver.

Our honest position on this fair

If your range is broad but your budget is not, take less floor and show less on it rather than more floor filled tightly. And if you are attending mainly to meet existing buyers, the meeting area matters more than the display — in that case a modest stand with a good table and two settings will do everything a large one would.
