China Defence Pavilion
IDEF

About the Project
IDEF is one of the leading exhibitions in the defense industry. For the China Pavilion, 35 modular stands were installed, covering a total area of 420 m² across multiple halls. Each booth was custom-designed to reflect the preferences of the participating companies. Throughout the event, technical supervision was provided to ensure a seamless and efficient process.
What this build had to solve
The fair
IDEF is Türkiye's biennial international defence industry exhibition and one of the few fairs where the visitor you are building for is a state delegation rather than a walk-in buyer. Traffic arrives in scheduled delegation groups with escorts, which changes what a stand has to do: it needs a controlled route in, somewhere to sit, and somewhere conversations cannot be overheard.
The venue
Defence halls carry loads that most fairs never see — vehicle-weight exhibits, tall mock-ups and equipment that has to be positioned before the hall is closed off for security sweeps. That pushes the heavy work to the front of the build schedule and leaves finishing to be done around exhibits that can no longer be moved.
The sector
A national pavilion is a different problem from a single stand: dozens of separate companies need their own identity while the pavilion still has to read as one country from across the hall. The grid has to be strict enough to look deliberate and loose enough that no exhibitor feels buried.
The build
Modular is the only sensible answer at this count: identical repeatable units mean a predictable build rate across a large footprint, and any single unit can be re-planned late without redrawing the pavilion. Consistency of the repeated unit is what makes the whole read as one pavilion.
