METU Rectorate
METU Rectorate Exhibition Space

About the Project
This project was permanent institutional interior design — the METU Rectorate's on-campus exhibition space, hosting university history, research programme showcase and rotating academic exhibitions.
What this build had to solve
The fair
This is not a trade fair build. It is a permanent exhibition space inside the METU Rectorate, which changes almost everything: no move-in window, no three-day lifespan, and an audience that walks past it every day rather than once.
The venue
Working inside an occupied building means the constraints are the building's, not a hall's: existing finishes, existing lighting, existing circulation, and work that cannot disrupt the floor while it is in use.
The sector
A permanent space is judged over years, so materials are chosen for wear rather than for the photograph. Anything that would look tired after six months of daily traffic was ruled out at specification stage.
The build
Detailing was resolved for maintenance as much as for appearance — replaceable surfaces, accessible fixings, and a structure that a facilities team can service without us returning.
