About the Project
World of Coffee is the Specialty Coffee Association's annual European fair — the show where roaster-decisions on porcelain cup ranges get made. Copenhagen 2025 hosted the SCA's flagship edition, and Porland's stand was built around the barista's tactile experience.
What this build had to solve
The fair
World of Coffee is a specialty coffee trade fair run by the Specialty Coffee Association. The audience is roasters, cafe groups and equipment people — a technical crowd that judges a cup before it judges a brand.
The venue
Copenhagen is a compact, design-literate market and the show reflects it: smaller stands, high finish expectations, and visitors who notice detailing. Overbuilding would have read as louder rather than better.
The sector
In specialty coffee the cup is the product and the vessel is judged for how it serves it — wall thickness, heat retention, lip profile. Tableware is being assessed as equipment here, not as homeware.
The build
Bar-height serving position at the centre so product is used rather than displayed, with the rest of the stand kept quiet around it.
